Originally commissioned by the Museum of Design (formerly the American Craft Museum) in NYC for their exhibit ‘Defining Design’, the full scale Light Dress, titled “Dress for Mom” was Exhibited in the front window of the American Craft Museum on 53rd Street. The Light Dresses were an intentional attempt for Godley to move away from furniture after her years’ as a partner of Godley-Schwan and carve out a space for her investigation of light art. These pieces were the beginning of her exploration with light in the space between between art and design. Sculpted vinyl, steel armature, candelabra sockets. Full scale size-8 dresses.
